Photos From Fall

My friend Bud at Older Eyes said he hoped I would post some photos I plan to use in my house when I move in. And I think I might do that – but while I was looking at them, I came across these and decided they were timely to share.

I took these photos last year, actually… and I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a lot of color in the grand vistas I saw. But I went looking for it, and I found it, in the smaller scenes. As always… it’s the little things.

Enjoy.

  1. Maybe it’s because we all … the amateur photographers among us … take more of less the same pictures, but these remind me so much of some of my own favorites … the close ups of the leaves, the berries, the little bit of solar flaring in the picture of the path. I particularly like the brook with stones and leaves … very peaceful. Fall, by the way, was may favorite season when I lived in New England but now in CA, it’s winter (because it’s most like NE fall.

I’m celebrating my 1,000th post tomorrow with a peculiar little post. Hope you’ll stop by. I’m on my way to read your debates post.

    • It’s hard to find fault with the beauties of fall, isn’t it? I think the same things appeal to all of us who love the season – maybe that’s what accounts for the similarities in the photos. When I post the photos I’m thinking of using in the house, you’ll see that I often like to change perspective so that what I’m shooting – even if it’s a relatively famous place – can’t immediately be identified. Or at least I HOPE that’s what you’ll see. Maybe I’m just fooling myself!

    • The roosters and hens were the craziest part of that day. I went to this trail to shoot and as soon as I got there I heard this weird noise and rustling. Took me a little while to figure out where it was coming from. Boy, was I surprised! I stood there forever – the males (who are the interesting, colorful ones, after all) kept turning their backs to me and I couldn’t get a good shot.
I’ve since learned that the berries are called Oriental Bittersweet, and they’re apparently destructive to trees. Wah wah. Still pretty. 🙂

    • Thanks GG. I don’t think I could live in a place without seasonal changes. Makes me appreciate each season more. Then again, I love snowstorms less as I get older..

  2. Nice photos… BUT – there has been a VP debate and the Rumble in the Air Conditioned Auditorium. And yet, I see no posts. Have you fallen somewhere without a medical alert bracelet? Do we need to send in the rescue dogs? I’m starting to worry…

    • Thank you! The roosters were totally random. I was walking on the trail and I heard them. It took me a while to figure out where they were and they were super-difficult about facing me for my pictures.
