My friend Bud at Older Eyes said he hoped I would post some photos I plan to use in my house when I move in. And I think I might do that – but while I was looking at them, I came across these and decided they were timely to share.
I took these photos last year, actually… and I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t a lot of color in the grand vistas I saw. But I went looking for it, and I found it, in the smaller scenes. As always… it’s the little things.
So lovely. We had our first smattering of snow last night.
I heard that! I have a friend in Commerce City. I told her that must be why I dreamed we got a snowstorm. 🙂
Maybe it’s because we all … the amateur photographers among us … take more of less the same pictures, but these remind me so much of some of my own favorites … the close ups of the leaves, the berries, the little bit of solar flaring in the picture of the path. I particularly like the brook with stones and leaves … very peaceful. Fall, by the way, was may favorite season when I lived in New England but now in CA, it’s winter (because it’s most like NE fall.
I’m celebrating my 1,000th post tomorrow with a peculiar little post. Hope you’ll stop by. I’m on my way to read your debates post.
It’s hard to find fault with the beauties of fall, isn’t it? I think the same things appeal to all of us who love the season – maybe that’s what accounts for the similarities in the photos. When I post the photos I’m thinking of using in the house, you’ll see that I often like to change perspective so that what I’m shooting – even if it’s a relatively famous place – can’t immediately be identified. Or at least I HOPE that’s what you’ll see. Maybe I’m just fooling myself!
I love your photos – and especially the chickens. And the berries and the red, red leaves.
The roosters and hens were the craziest part of that day. I went to this trail to shoot and as soon as I got there I heard this weird noise and rustling. Took me a little while to figure out where it was coming from. Boy, was I surprised! I stood there forever – the males (who are the interesting, colorful ones, after all) kept turning their backs to me and I couldn’t get a good shot.
I’ve since learned that the berries are called Oriental Bittersweet, and they’re apparently destructive to trees. Wah wah. Still pretty. 🙂
Haha, yes – there are many pretty things out there that are as destructive as hell!
Great pictures. I wish we had more of a change in season here in Shanghai.
Thanks GG. I don’t think I could live in a place without seasonal changes. Makes me appreciate each season more. Then again, I love snowstorms less as I get older..
Nice photos… BUT – there has been a VP debate and the Rumble in the Air Conditioned Auditorium. And yet, I see no posts. Have you fallen somewhere without a medical alert bracelet? Do we need to send in the rescue dogs? I’m starting to worry…
Give a girl a minute! I’m workin’ on it! Maybe tonight. That’s my goal.
This just in: the vp debate post is now available for your reading pleasure!
Me too, pithypants! Where o where is singlecell, the masterful voice of reason and analysis?
See update directly above your comment, Sea. 😉 Thanks for anticipating my clearly brilliant assessments. I really don’t know why I haven’t been appointed the czar of something yet.
Love the photos! Only thing getting me through the fall debates season are reminders that it’s also fall colors season.
Thanks! The only “debate” about fall is exactly when the peak colors hit.
These are fantastic! I especially love the roosters and the Japanese Maples. And the berry thingies. And the fence stabbing the tree.
Thank you! The roosters were totally random. I was walking on the trail and I heard them. It took me a while to figure out where they were and they were super-difficult about facing me for my pictures.
